Obituary

Alan James Grutza, age 64, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home. Born on March 11, 1953 in Milwaukee, Alan is the son of the late Robert and Lorraine (Lewicki) Grutza. In 1977, he moved to Shawano to "get out of Milwaukee". On February 12, 1994 Alan was united in marriage to Ruby (Gipp) Wright at St. John United Church of Christ in Cecil. He worked primarily for road construction. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time outside, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who followed him around like little ducks. One of Alan's proudest accomplishments was building his home from the ground up.

Alan is survived by: his wife, Ruby; his son, Joseph Wuyts of Kaukauna; three step-daughters, Kimberly (Dave Donahue) Hess of Bonduel, Kari (Scott) Balke of Clintonville and Kay Wright of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Ava, Eli, Dayne, Daelyn, Ethan, Anna and Ezra; one brother, Charles (June) Grutza of Green Bay; and one sister, Helen (Frank) DeBartolo of Blairsville, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. John United Church of Christ in Cecil. Rev. Moira Finley will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00am until the time of the services.
