Alex Stephen Mastey, age 20 passed away on July 2, 2014. Born on May 23, 1994 in Shawano, he is the son of Joe and Karyn (Vargo) Mastey. Alex is a 2012 graduate of the Shawano Community High School and was attending UWGB. He enjoyed playing tennis as well as the guitar and the saxophone, but his passions were photography and snowboarding. Alex was consistently a very kind and gentle person. A highlight in his life was when he traveled around the world with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), spreading the gospel in 7 countries. Alex's love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ encouraged him to love and serve others, and this brought him much joy and satisfaction. Forever in our broken hearts, Alex is survived by: his parents, Joe and Karyn Mastey of Shawano; a brother Kevin (Jaimie) Mastey, Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Sarah (Rory) Groessl of Algoma and Kelly Mastey of Shawano. He is further survived by his grandparents, Donna Vargo of Shawano, James (Mary) Vargo of IN, Stan and Jean Mastey of IN; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Hope Community Church with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
