Alfred J. "Big Al" Waubanascum, age 79 of Neopit, started his journey to the spirit world Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Green Bay. Alfred was born on February 15, 1941, in Keshena, to the late William and Maryann (Waupoose) Waubanascum.

Alfred graduated from Antigo High School. After high school he worked for MTE at a fork lift driver and night supervisor for 35 years. On February 24, 1962 Alfred was united in marriage to Rose Boivin of Neopit, together they raised six children. Alfred loved to play baseball and he tried out for the Chicago White Sox. He loved boxing and was a golden glove champion. Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his lake lot. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, most of all he enjoyed every minute with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose; his children, Allen "Aldo" (Coleen) Waubanascum, Anita (Carl) Miller, Louella (Ronald, Sr.) Wescott, Carl (Mel) Waubanascum, Maryann (Dennis) Wynos, Lynn Waubanascum, Darrel (Trisha) Delabreau, Nahquaseh (Dana) Waubanascum, and Alfred Lee Waubanascum; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; five sisters, Frances Kakwitch, Dinna Wayman, Caroline Caldwell, Dorla Boivin, and Deneane (Miles) Tourtillott; and four brothers, William Waubanascum, Jr.,  Little Tom Wayman, Dan Wayka, and Richard Wayka. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Rainelle Waubanascum; a grandson, Carl Miller, Jr.; a granddaughter, Denise Wynos; great-grandchild, Cedar Wescott; his parents; three sisters; and one brother.

A funeral service will be held for Alfred at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Nonito Barra officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the family residence, W6616 James Street, Neopit, after 1:00 pm on Tuesday until the procession leaves for the church. Due to COVID-19 masks will be required.
