Alice G. Ernst, age 94, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Alice was born in Gresham on December 9, 1924, daughter of the late William C. and Rose G. (Pleshek) Jeske. On October 14, 1944 Alice was united in marriage to Elmer A. Ernst at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Elmer preceded Alice in death on June 22, 2002. Alice grew up and lived in Shawano County for most of her life, in her younger years she enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. She is a member of St. James Lutheran Church and AARP.
Alice is survived by: her son, Patrick Ernst of Green Bay; her nieces and nephews, Angeline Rogers, John (Mary) Starcheske, Maxine (Herb) Fenske, Claudia (Gary) Krueger, Joyce Jeske, Sandra (Keith) Krueger, Corrine (Mike) O'Leary, Nancy Hein, Julie Deak, and Louie Deak.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Elmer; her parents; five sisters, Aurelia Haase, Ethel Beyer, Lillie Starcheske, Viola Seuberl, and Erma Jeske; five brothers, Louis Deak, Steve Deak, John Deak, Victor Jeske, and Ted Jeske; as well as her life long friend who was "like a sister" to her, Angie Rogers.
A funeral service for Alice will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Mark Drengler officiating. Inurnment will be in Little Creek Cemetery in Waupaca County. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
