Obituary

Allen M. Vele, age 81 of Bowler, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Weston. Allen was born on the Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation on April 22, 1937, son of the late Steve and Irene (Gardner) Vele. On June 14, 1958, Allen was united in marriage to Leona Owens in Chicago. He worked as an ironworker for Local 1 in Chicago until retiring and moving back to Bowler 15 years ago. He was an outdoorsman, avid golfer, enjoyed hunting, dancing and playing bags with his family.

Allen is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Leona; children, Victoria (Joseph) Bruns, Laura Malak, Tammy Vele, Lisa (Bill) Vele and Lois (Chad) Cordes; special daughter, Tina Weinheimer; 15 grandchildren, Casey, Kelsey, Tavondre, Joshua, Jennifer, Danielle, Stacy, Joseph, Alicia, Jacob, Hunter, Cheyenne, Samantha, Nathan and Bobbie Jo; 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sue (Lee) Vele-Williams; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by; his daughter, Deborah Corn; son-in-law, Robert Corn; his parents; and siblings, Adrian Vele, Merton Vele, Valetta Miller, Vera "Dood" Smolich, Vaughn Doxtator, Tena Duffek, Bette Rae Vele and Virginia Tousey.

Funeral services for Allen will be held at noon on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Church of the Wilderness with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Red Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
