Obituary

Alois "Louie" "Al" Schiessl Alois Schiessl, age 81 of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Maple Lane Health Care Center after a brief illness. Born on July 8, 1930 in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Alois, Sr. and Rose (Traeger) Schiessl. He was employed at the Koehring Company in Milwaukee until retiring to Shawano. He enjoyed training dogs, gardening, hunting, working on his land, fishing, and going for rides on the Harley. Alois served in the U.S. Army from October 1948 until 1952. He married Elaine Buss on September 4, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leopolis. Alois is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Elaine; 2 daughters, Pat (Mike) Schwenke of Shawano, Paula (Michael) Pettigrew of Yuba, CA; 3 grandchildren, Christopher (Amberly), Joshua and Erin all of CA; and a great-grandson, Colby Pettigrew of CA. He is also survived by: 2 brothers and 1 sister and was also preceded in death by a sister, Delores. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Chuck Daily officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in the Town of Belle Plaine with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9am until the time of the services. At Al's request, the funeral and visitation will be casual attire. The family would like to thank the staff at Unity Hospice, Maple Lane and Arc Angels for their care and support during Al's illness.
