Obituary

Anna May Opperman, age 76 of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at home, with her family at her side while "Silent Night" played in the background. Anna was born on August 31, 1938 in Zionsville, IN; she is the daughter of the late Orval and Helen (Nagle) Case. Anna met her future husband, Frederick H. Opperman, on a blind date at a dance hall. On November 25, 1960 she and Fred were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha. Anna had many hobbies including reading, baking, cooking, traveling with her family and attending her children's and grandchildren's events. She also enjoyed being outdoors, doing lawn work, gardening, tending to her flowers and watching the birds. She was an amazing woman who loved her family and always looked forward to the Opperman's monthly family gatherings. Anna was a faithful member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid. She was also formerly a part of the Farm Progress Days team and was a former 4-H leader. Anna is survived by: her loving husband of 54 years, Fred; 3 children, Margaret Jordan Opperman, Sue (Gary) Zaddack and Mike (Cathy) Opperman all of Shawano; one son-in-law, Chuck Dunnam of Shawano; 6 grandchildren, Cassie (Zak) Weber, Bryan and Erika Dunnam, Lee (Ashley) Zaddack, Cory (Amber) Zaddack, and Grace Opperman, 2 great-granddaughters, Ehlana and Zoie, her 3 siblings, Betty (Glen) Miller of Westfield, IN, John (Nancy) Case of Mount Vernon, IN, and Barbara (Leon) Hamblin of Westfield, IN as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Laura Dunnam and Carmella in infancy, a grandchild, Baby Zaddack, her parents and a sister-in-law, Pat Case. Anna's family would like to extend a special thank you to John Beversdorf for everything he has done for the family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond with the Rev. Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
