Anna Marie Witt, age 97 of Belle Plaine, passed away on November 13, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home in Belle Plaine. Born on December 8, 1916 in Chicago, IL, she is the daughter of the late Peter and Anastasia (Oleksew) Brylinsky. On December 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ralph Witt of Crivitz, WI. Ralph preceded her in death on March 21, 2000. Since 1947 Ralph and Anna owned and operated Witt's Locker now known as Witt's Sausage Haus on Highway 22. Anna loved working in the store and visiting with neighbors. Besides the family, her life was all about her beloved store and the sausage. What time she had left was dedicated to her family, sewing, gardening, cooking, reading and housekeeping. She was an avid Packers' fan and would not take phone calls during the game. She loved to pick blackberries and canned anything and everything in her younger years. Family suppers, at 6:00 sharp, of course, were all home cooked and ended with pie or cake desserts. The Holy Day of Washing was Mondays, and the lines were flapping with the whitest whites and brightest colors. Throughout the years, her faithful companion, the dog, Missy (there were actually three dogs named Missy) never left her side. A perfect day for Anna was spent planning meals for Joe, watching a good game, and relaxing in the old red recliner. She was at her happiest sitting and watching her corner of Belle Plaine that she claimed at Friendship road and Highway 22. Anna is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Anna is survived by her children, Bob (Debbie) Witt of Marengo, IL, Betty (Pat) Huhn of Dale, Marion Witt of Dallas, TX, Joe Witt of Belle Plaine and Cathy (Steve) Sengstock of Shawano. Her sister, Mary Ann of Novi, MI, grandchildren, Robb, Tony, Joey, Miriam, David, Veronica, Peter, Emily and Patrick and great-grandchildren, Brycen, Kaeden, Emily and Jane. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her parents and grandson, Paul Krysiak. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 and again at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
