Arlene H. Funk, age 97, of Neopit, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Neopit. Born on June 24, 1918 in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Fred K. and Rhoda (Oshkosh) House. Arlene was united in marriage to George L. Funk on December 10, 1937, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit. She worked as a dispatcher during World War II, as a census worker on the Menominee Indian Reservation in the 1950's, was the former Postmaster in Neopit, worked on the Menominee Election Commission and as an administrative worker at Menominee Tribal Enterprises. Arlene was an artist, and enjoyed oil painting. She used these skills in creating crafts and was a talented seamstress, beader, quilter, knitter and crocheter. Arlene also enjoyed making soap and wine, and fly tying. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was involved with the church council and the Women's Guild. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Regina H. "Jean" Funk of Neopit; her grandchildren, Mark (Jeanette) Funk of Germany, Jay Herde of Green Bay, Darren Herde of Sussex, Reginald (Leah) Herde of Austin, TX, Carole (Layne) Hanson-Holt of Appleton and Alexander Herde of Green Bay; 12 great grandchildren, Marc Funk, Martina Stohr, Michael Funk, Marissa Funk, Harper Herde, Thomas Herde, Keshena Hanson, Jordanne Holt, Jaxson Holt, Maysun Herde, Brick Herde, and Stryker Herde. She is further survived by her brothers and sister, Reginald House of Indiana, Roger House of Salem, WI, and Natalie (Dean) Meyers of California as well as her former foster son, Darrel (Rita) O'Katchicum of Shawano. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, two sons, Forrest and Joseph, her parents and 12 siblings including, Yvette Peters, Jeanette Frechette, Fern Grant, Richanda House, Geraldine House, and Weston "Buddy" House. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Rev. David McElroy O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
