Arvin A. Pyawasay, age 72, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, in Neenah. He was born on November 27, 1949, to the late William M. Pyawasay, Sr. and Jacqueline (Menore) Pyawasay in Keshena. On October 12, 1974, Arvin was united in marriage to Vera Colovic in Cudahy, WI. Arvin worked as a print press operator and later as an IT Specialist for the United Way. He was especially proud of his Associate Degree in IT since he went back to school in his late 50's and earned his degree at the age of 66. Arvin volunteered as a Little League coach and manager as well as coach of the Walker School Boys Club for over 15 years. He was everybody's favorite Santa at Christmas time, bringing a sack of presents every year. Arvin was the kind of person who was willing to lend an ear or a helping hand to those in need at any time. He was known as a master of funny faces and had a great sense of humor. Arvin enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting and was an expert chess player, no matter how long he took to move his pieces.
He is survived by his devoted wife "Babes", Vera; children, Carrie Ann Ward, Aaron (Robin) Pyawasay and Daniel (Jodi) Pyawasay; grandchildren, Megan, Colin, Brooke (Alex), Aaron Jr., Dakota, Jada, Daniel Jr., and Chloe; great-grandson, Archer; his previous wife Susan Mingesz; siblings, Elaine (Greg) Gruna, Donna R. (Tony) Alvarez, Shelley Conjurski, Twila (Jarvis) Pyawasay, Debbie (Mark) Sopa, Dawn (Chris) Pyawasay, Dawn M. Lawe, Mona Pyawasay, Clayton (Twila) Neconish, and Donald Fons; his special "brother" Alex "Gokey" Menore and his special kitty Oreo. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Jr., Preston and Nash J. Pyawasay.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 29, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. A traditional native visitation will begin at 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at St. Michael's Father David Barrett Hall until the time of service on Monday. Burial will be in the Menominee Nation Cemetery following services.
