IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Audrey Mae
Marohl
September 9, 1931 – May 9, 2023
Audrey Mae Marohl, age 91, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at her home on May 9, 2023. Audrey was born in Green Bay on September 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ethel (Hitzke) Gerondale. She was baptized on October 13, 1931, and confirmed April 15, 1945, at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in Bonduel. Audrey grew up in Bonduel and as a child excelled in dance and piano. She graduated from Bonduel High School in 1949 and then graduated from Oshkosh Business College. Audrey worked for Shawano Evening Leader. In 1956, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Charles Marohl at the home of her parents in Bonduel. Together the couple made their home in Shawano and celebrated 66 abundant years of marriage.
Audrey will be remembered for her caring, loving, giving heart. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and was always there when we needed her. Audrey was a faithful member of Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. She was a special lady but always made others feel special. Audrey enjoyed many activities including weekly luncheon for over 30 years with a special group of ladies, family gatherings especially with the Crawford family, vacations in Florida and Arizona, shopping trips with her daughter, making fudge for friends, gardening and growing red roses and red geraniums. She loved watching Wisconsin football and basketball and especially cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
She felt fortunate to have been blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors. More than anything, Audrey loved her family and cherished every minute with them. Her pride and joy were her grandsons, Jay and Eric. She was the best friend a daughter could ever ask for and definitely earned the title "best grandma ever".
Audrey is survived by her loving husband Charles Marohl; daughter, Merrie (Lee) Crawford of Shawano; grandsons, Jay Crawford of Shawano and Eric (Fiancé Kate and her daughter, Thea) Crawford of Waunakee. Audrey is further survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel and in-laws, Carl and Anita Marohl.
Funeral Service for Audrey will be held at 11:00 am on Monday May 15, 2023, at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano, with Pastor Uriah Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at ThedaCare at Home and Hospice, Audrey's home caregivers Roxann, Madison and Sandy who provided loving care and comfort to her.
