IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara
Bergum
March 12, 1952 – April 13, 2024
Barbara Bergum, age 72, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Shawano surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on March 12, 1952, in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Robert and Kay (Canton) Larson. She graduated from Green Bay East High School then went on to work at Proctor and Gamble. On September 16, 1989, Barbara was united in marriage to Robert Bergum at Ascension Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The couple opened Bergum Post Lake Inn in the early 1990's until retirement, where she was a genius business owner. In her free time, Barbara loved to watch Robert harness race, listen to music, and play piano and organ at multiple churches. She loved to watch her Green Bay Packers whenever she could. Barbara was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage. She made lots of close friends at the Post Lake Inn. She loved spending time with her family, nieces, nephews and her dogs. During the past 15 years, Barbara had health issues but during the bad times, she always had a smile on her face and liked to live life to the fullest.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert, who described her as the best wife; sons, Paul Bergum of De Pere, Wisconsin and David (Janet) Bergum of Santa Rosa, California; grandson, Miles; brother, Rick Larson of Green Bay, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Sue Helgson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and brother-in-law Roger Newton of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her siblings, Roger Larson and Karen Newton and parents, Robert and Kay.
Barbara knew what she wanted and didn't want anything fancy, per her wishes no services will be held. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving caregivers Jamie and Mary Ellen, whom Barbara formed as special bond with.
