Obituary

Barbara E. "Barbie" Dixon, of Neopit, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Barbie was born on April 30, 1959 to Richard and Sylvia Dodge of Keshena, WI.  She was in the first graduating class of Menominee Indian High School in 1977.  She went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in History at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.  On July 22, 1978, Barbie was united in marriage to Eugene V. Dixon in Keshena.  Barbie began her career as a teacher at Menominee Tribal School in Neopit, where she became better known as Mrs. Dixon.  Teaching the children at Menominee Tribal School for the past 20 years was very important to her, as were the people she worked beside.  She enjoyed pow-wow dancing with her grandchildren, beading, regalia making and going for rides in the woods with her husband.
Barbie will remain in the hearts of her husband of 45 years, Eugene V. Dixon, Sr; daughter, Taneil R. (Roger A. Corn, Jr.) Dixon of Shawano; sons, Eugene V. (Alinda Basina) Dixon, Jr of Keshena and Mitchell M. Dixon of Neopit; her four-legged child, George; 10 grandchildren, Corey J. Sanapaw, Danica L. Sanapaw, Pamela J. Dixon, Mylee J. Dixon, Colt S. Dixon, Khloe L.E. Corn, Kateri Dixon, Hayden Dixon, Sage M. Corn and Geneva Dixon; her godchildren, Charlotta J. Perez and Timothy J. Dixon, Jr; her parents, Richard and Sylvia Dodge; sisters, Jeanette (Camilo) Perez of Keshena, Wendy (Larry) Warrington of Keshena and Lorraine Cochran-Powell of Oklahoma; brothers, Kenneth Dodge of Keshena, Lawrence (Lori) Dodge of Shawano, Richard (Denise) O'Kimosh, Sr. of Keshena, Benjamin B. Cochran of Oklahoma and Morris L. Cochran of Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom were very special to her. She is further survived by extended family and friends, Dawn Wilber, Annette (Marty) Emerich Koleno, Gert (Bob) Delabrue, Marci Grignon, Julie Hill and countless more that she will continue to watch over until rejoining them.
She was preceded in death by her father William S. Cochran; brothers, Roger F. Dodge and Ronnie Grant; mother-in-law, Lois Dixon; and father-in-law, Vyron Dixon, Sr.
Funeral services for Barbie will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Rev. Francis Zurbano officiating. Visitation will be held at the Richard and Sylvia Dodge residence, N1597 Highway 55 in Keshena from 3:00 pm Thursday, March 23, 2017 until the procession to the church on Friday.
