Barbara Dreher, age 96 of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at The Evergreen Care Center in Shawano. Barbara was born on February 14, 1916 in Oregon, WI. She was the second child born to Gerald L. and Alice P. Booth. After graduating from Oregon High School in 1934, Barbara attended cosmetology school and then furthered her education with a degree in Home Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1940. On September 28th of that same year, she was united in marriage to William Henry Dreher in Oregon. After marriage the couple moved to Wittenberg and then to the Shawano area where they became the loving parents of 3 children. Barbara was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano for many years. She sang in the choir, participated in and was past president of the Women's Circle Group, and served as a Deacon. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing for herself and her family, gardening, reading, and dancing with her beloved Henry. She also spent many happy days at their cottage on Lake Metonga in Crandon. Barbara is survived by her 3 children, Roger Dreher of Edina, MN, Lorna Dreher of Gresham and Marilyn Frone of Selkirk, NY. Barbara was also the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Jay Buth of Avon, CT, David Dreher of Portland, OR, Laura Timmel of Western Springs, IL, Rachel Frone of Sheridan, WY, Zachary Frone of Dallas, TX and 7 great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by a sister, Carol (Bernard Paddock) Crisp of Alma, WI. Barbara was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry, on May 20, 2005; and 3 brothers, Gordon, Gerald Jr., and Philip Booth. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Susan Phillips officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday starting at 1pm until the time of the service. A graveside inurnment service will be held at the Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon at a later date.
