Obituary

Barbara J. Dillenburg, age 88, of Shawano passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Cottages. Barbara was born on April 19, 1938, in Waupaca County, to the late Carl and Selma (Koepke) Schwan. One night she met Richard Dillenburg while dancing in the Caroline ballroom. On November 25, 1961, she and Richard were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple spent a wonderful 59 years together before Richard’s passing in 2020. Barbara helped on the family farm with Richard for many years. She was great with numbers and did bookwork right up until Richard’s passing. She worked the Town of Richmond elections for many years and was a proud member of the Pine Grove Homemakers. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking, especially for the holidays. Barbara loved her family with all her heart and cherished memories made and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; she will be deeply missed.

Barbara is survived by her children, Scott Dillenburg, Lorna “Lori” (Todd) Sherman, Sheryl (Randy) Mallmann and Dean Dillenburg; grandchildren, Brent (Megan) Mallmann, Amber (Dasch) Mraz, Jacob Sherman and Nicholas Sherman; great-grandchildren, Everett Mraz, Lorelai Mraz and Charlotte Mallmann; siblings, Fred Schwan and Donna Krueger; and sisters-in-law, Carol Schwan, Elaine Schwan and Dorothy Berndt. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dillenburg; siblings, Charles Schwan, James Schwan and Mary Salmonson; parents, Carl and Selma Schwan; as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Looney officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum following the service.
