Barbara Alice Nelson nee Geringer, age 72, passed away on Friday May 10, 2024, at her home in Shawano. Barbara was born on September 19, 1951 in Milwaukee the daughter of John and Idabell (Schwenkner) Geringer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen J. Geringer.  Barb was a loving and giving person who dedicated her life to her family by not only raising and supporting her children but also three grandchildren (which she loved every second of). She is also remembered for her decades of work as a social worker/director for Menominee County Health & Human Services.

Barb is remembered lovingly by her partner of 25 years, Jeff Orlowski, her daughter, Kari Nelson Flores (Jay), and son, Mark Nelson.  Also by her grandchildren Myah, Macey and Mason Nelson, Perry Sorenson, and Greysen Flores, her niece, Tina, as well as many loving family members, colleagues, and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15th at 11am with visitation starting at 10am at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Vicar David Kaiser officiating.
