Ben C. Schwartz, age 82 of W11944 Maple Ridge Road, Gresham, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 in Neenah. Ben was born on February 27, 1922 in the Town of Herman, the son of the late Edward and Edna (Koehler) Schwartz. Ben was born and raised on the farm where he eventually began his own family and lived until his death. In his youth, he did lumberjacking in upper Michigan.

On June 4, 1949 Ben was united in marriage to Dorothy Diem at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Tigerton. Together they owned and operated the 119-year-old family dairy farm in the Town of Herman, retiring from farming in 1984. He also hauled milk for Hermansfort Cheese Factory for 14 years. Ben and Dorothy enjoyed traveling abroad quite a bit after their retirement.

Ben was a faithful member of Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman and was a Trustee for the church for several years. His father and grandfather had been active in the church, and he was proud that his son continues in those steps of dedication to the church.

Ben was also a member of the Gresham Lions, for 22 years. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, and dart ball. He enjoyed time with his family and was very proud of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Donald (Charlotte), and two grandchildren, Charles and Stacy.
