IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin "Nailbender"
Warrington
March 29, 1937 – August 15, 2023
On August 15, 2023, Benjamin "Nailbender" Warrington started his journey to meet up with his mother, father, brother and so many friends. Ben was a Veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Michigan where he met his wife Betty Brown of 64 years. After the military they moved home to the Menominee Reservation where they raised their five children, Carmela, Annette, Warren, Ben and Elizabeth. Ben also had a few extra sons, Dwayne "KitKat" Kitson, Michael "Bitzen" Peters and Josh Lawe whom he spent some fun times with through the years. Ben and Betty opened their home to many children over the years, who became more like their own children rather than guests. Ben was a member of the Menominee Fire Department for 42 years serving as fire chief for many years and was one of the three owners of Tri-Builders for 40 years building homes in the surrounding areas. Building, remodeling and woodworking was his specialty and he enjoyed it up until his final days.
Ben is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Carmela (Clint), Annette (Andrew), Warren (Leah), Ben (Julie) and Elizabeth (Mark); sister, Marcia Hause of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Mary Morning, Brittany Cook, Miranda Cook, Jesse Warrington, Clarissa Pamonicutt, Monea Warrington, Mitchell Warrington, Montoya Waukau and Lillith Wenzel; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Warrington and Mary Brooks; stepfather, Jesse Brooks; brother, Joseph Warrington; special friends, Ronald "Ozzy" Oshkosh, Lyle "Buddy" Tucker, Cecil Pollock, Lyle Ninham, Donald "Donny" Weso; and traveling companion Pat Haut.
A funeral service for Ben will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the family residence N656 Brooks Lane in Keshena, with Nahwahquaw officiating. Visitation will take place at the family residence starting at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023, and continuing until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Keshena. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation at the Cemetery. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers to please donate to the MenominiU Language Initiative.
The family would like to extend an extra special thank you to Aunt Susie, Retts, Joyce, Gloria, and Amy Doll for always being there for us through the years.
