Obituary

Bernard E. "Bucky" Phillips, Jr., age 68 of Cecil, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday, September 25, 2020.

Bucky graduated from Appleton West High School and enjoyed his time with the Americanos-Drum and Bugle Corp. While working at Valley Cast Wire, he graduated from Fox Valley Technical College and became a Journeyman Industrial Electrician. He retired from Kimberly Clark.

Bucky was an avid gardner and when he wasn't in the garden, he was reading about flowers and plants. Wisconsin Public Radio was always playing in the background. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and attended almost every family night at his granddaughter's school.

Bucky is survived by his children, Michelle (Eric) Kielhorn of Oakdale, Connecticut and Marissa (Dirk) Shier of Kaukauna. He is further survived by his beloved grandchildren, Faith, Christian, Mercy, and Moses Kielhorn and Madelynn Shier. Bucky had numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is also survived by dear family friends, Tom and Carol Clayton of Navarino, as well as numerous friends in the community of Cecil. Though Bucky was only in Cecil a short time, the community was truly his home. Whether eating breakfast at the Village Lantern or the Cecil Diner, or stopping in for a drink at one of his favorite watering holes – Washington Inn, Ship Wrecked, Elbow Room, or Fillin Station – Bucky loved his community and the wonderful people in it!

A celebration of life will be held for Bucky at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wisconsin Public Radio.
