Bernard Joseph "Fuddy" Fowler, Sr., age 68 of Keshena, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Green Bay. Born on June 4, 1944 in Keshena, he was the son of the late Sanford and Louise (Pecore) Fowler. Bernard was a graduate of the Shawano High School, class of 1963. After graduation, he enlisted with the United States Marines and served his country with the 2nd Battalion and the Ghost Battalion. Bernard was a Vietnam Veteran and a proud Marine. On November 2, 1968 he was united in marriage to Fairyal Pocan in Shawano. Bernard returned to the Menominee Reservation where he worked as a Tribal Officer for several years. He later drove long haul truck for Menominee Tribal Enterprise, Short Freight and others. Bernard finally retired last year. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit. In his free time, as a retired Golden Gloves Boxer, he enjoyed watching boxing, doing yard work and taking care of his other "sons", Max and Ralph. Bernard is survived by: his wife, Fairyal "Tink" Fowler; 5 sons, Greg (special friend, Rhiannon) Fowler, Bernard Fowler, Jr., Keith (Ravena) Fowler, Sr., Scott (special friend, Rosemary) Fowler, Sr and Brad Fowler all of Keshena; a step son, Gordon Pocan of Keshena; 16 grandchildren; and siblings, Clara (Stan) Otto of Shawano, S. Verna Fowler of Keshena, Eugene (Diane) Fowler of Milwaukee, Joan Delabreau of Shawano, Luanna Dickenson of Keshena and Charles (Caroline) Shegonee of Keshena. Bernard is further survived by: a special sister, S. Jeanette Trost of Keshena; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Buddy Maskewit of Shawano, Doris Delabrue of Keshena, Ava Fowler of Keshena, Eileen Burress of Princeton, IL, Patricia (Louis) Perez of Keshena, Davey Jean (Wayne) Peters of Neopit; and a special nephew, Kaske Fowler of Keshena. Bernard was preceded in death by: a son, Glenn; his parents; and 7 siblings, Marlene Fowler, Joan Maskewit, Sanford E. Fowler, Jr., Shirley (Art) Daly, Leon Fowler, Sr., Albert Fowler and Calvin Fowler. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Sister Stephanie Spence officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation and the Menominee American Legion Post #497 at the church following the service. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.
