Bernard A. Muraski, age 68 of Marion, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Shawano after a five year battle with multiple myeloma. Born on June 7, 1943 in Shawano, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Angeline (Paiser) Muraski. After graduating from Shawano High School, Bernard enlisted with the United States Army to serve his country. On May 7, 1966 he was united in marriage to Inez Carter in Shawano. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the Clintonville area until 2000. Bernie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. In his free time he enjoyed traveling and taking road trips, doing crossword puzzles and fishing with his grandkids. He was also an avid sports fan especially of all professional and college sports in Wisconsin. Bernie is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Inez; 4 children, Greg (April) Muraski of Silver Spring, MD, Brian (Cathy) Muraski of Wisconsin Rapids, Sara (William) Ziegelbauer of Janesville, Jason (Michele) Muraski of Arvada, CO; son-in-law, William Watson of Janesville; 10 grandchildren, Karrah, Hillary, Jeremy, Faith, Tajmera, Samantha, Dillon, Caitlyn, Makenzie, Andrew; and 4 step grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Jonathan and Mary. Bernie is further survived by: a sister, Theresa (Edward) Wedde of Clintonville; and a brother, James Muraski of Augusta, GA. Bernie was preceded in death by: his daughter, Laura Watson; his parents; and a sister, Mary Ann Muraski. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Shawano with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
