Obituary

Bernice M. Schroeder, age 87, of Gresham, was called to her eternal home on Friday, June 29, 2012. Bernice was born on June 30, 1924 in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County to the late Ferdinand and Marie (Otto) Beyer. She was baptized on July 13, 1924 and renewed those vows through Confirmation on August 13, 1937 at the Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Herman. In 1948 she married Harold Schroeder at Elias Lutheran. Along with her husband she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gresham. It was there that she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. Bernice was a member of the Women's Club and was a 4-H leader in Gresham. She spent many years farming dairy and beef with her husband. After raising their family, she worked at Bonduel Pickling Company. Over the years, she enjoyed the management of her family's forest land in Gresham. Bernice is survived by: 2 daughters, Marsha Schroeder of Green Bay, Debra (Jerry) Schroeder Fisher of Appleton; 2 grandsons, Jeremy Schroeder, Peter Fisher; and step grandchildren, Brian (Vicki) Fisher, Robin Fogel, Sarah (Greg) Lodl, along with their children. She is further survived by: a sister Betty (Carl) Bartz; a brother, Ray (Ruth) Beyer of Shawano; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold; a sister, Maxine (Robert) Huebner; and sisters-in-law, Irene (Clarence) Otto, Mildred (Leonard) Westphal and Eunice (Lloyd) Knope. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham with the Rev. John C. Eyer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 9:30a.m. until the time of the services. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements. Bernice resided at The Cottages in Shawano since July 2011. The family expresses gratefulness to the staffs at The Cottages and ThedaCare Hospice for the loving care she received from them.
