Betty Jane Hensel, age 85, of Shawano, passed away on October 15, 2023, in Neenah surrounded by her family. Betty was born on April 14, 1938, in Gorum, Louisiana to the late Ospil and Leoma (Coutee) DeLacerda. On June 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Ronald Hensel in Fort Meade, Maryland. Ronald preceded Betty in death in April of 2016. Betty and Ron were the proud owners and operators of Hensel's Bar in Shawano for many years. In her free time, Betty was an avid gardener and loved spending long summer days in her garden.  From dawn to dusk she would meticulously care for her flowers and pull every single weed. Betty was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for her large family and baking for the holidays. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, her numerous shopping trips to Wal-Mart, feeding and watching the birds, watching the Packers, and caring for her beloved cat, Toby.  More than anything Betty loved her family, and she cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Betty is survived by her children, Ricky Hensel, Steven (Diane) Hensel, Todd Hensel and Lisa (William Hanamann) Hensel-Gueths; nine grandchildren, Rachel (Jared) Kirchner, Jennifer (Rolando Rodriguez) Hensel, Christine Hensel, Jason (Ella) Hensel, Barbara Ann (Robert) Saeger, Jessica Hensel, Jeremy Hensel, Tonya (Julian Perez) Lowe and Ashley (Jacob) Hartmann; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Segar. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; a grandson, Justin Hensel, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ann Hensel; her parents; and siblings, Earl DeLacerda, JoAnn Spires and Bess Arcolano.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday October 18, 2023, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 9:30am and continuing until the time of the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
