Betty Kosbab-Wawrzyniakowski, age 81 of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Shawano Medical Center. Betty was born on January 13, 1932 in Utica, SD, the daughter of the late Fred and Caroline (Ackerman) Christensen. On October 13, 1950 she married George Connolly who passed away on May 23, 1963. On January 15, 1966 she married Fritz Kosbab who passed away on March 15, 1991. On June 10, 1994, she was united in marriage to Gerald Wawrzyniakowski who survives. Betty worked as a nurses' aide for many years and also worked in home care. She enjoyed reading and would often read books from cover to cover in one day. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, going out to eat and extended car rides, especially in the fall. She was also very proud of her "babies" Gigi and Dobie (Poodles). She recently learned how to Skype, which allowed her not only to speak, but see her sister Pearl in South Dakota as well. Although she spoke with her sister frequently, she had not seen her in years and the reunion was very touching for both of them. Betty was also a very proud soldier with the Salvation Army for 35 years. Betty is survived by: her husband, Gerald; daughter, Sandra Smith of Shawano; sons, Bruce (Diane) Kosbab of Wauwatosa, Roger (Chrissie) Connolly of Shawano; and step-daughter June Wawrzyniakowski of Shawano. She is further survived by her sister, Pearl Christensen of Irene, SD, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, George Connolly and Fritz Kosbab; sisters, Ellen and Florence; and brothers, Roy, Robert and Henry. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
