Betty L. Richards, age 81, of Shawano, passed away at Evergreen Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Betty was born in Shawano on December 19, 1942, to the late Arnold and Lora (Stibbs) Splitgerber. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1960.  On June 10, 1961, she was united in marriage to Thomas Richards at St. James Lutheran Church. Thomas preceded Betty in death on July 11, 2013. Betty lived in Shawano all her life and worked at Maple Lane Nursing Home until her retirement. She loved spending time with grandchildren, playing cards, and doing puzzles. She also enjoyed watching the Packers and birds.

Betty is survived by: children, Peggy (Dan) Kugel of River Falls, Jenny (Jeff) Hilliker of Shawano, and Rhonda Richards; and 7 grandchildren, Devin (Grace), Brinley (Trevor), Bryce (Sydney), Kiana (Tucker), Caleb, Isaac, and Halle.

Betty is preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas; and children, Nancy Richards and Marsha Hopfensperger.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Pastor Andrew Zobel officiating. Visitation will be held at church after 10am until the time of service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
