Obituary

Betty Jane Rouse, age 86, of Shawano, passed away on Friday November 6, 2026, in Shawano. Betty was born in Shawano, Wisconsin on November 9, 1939, to the late Ernest and Mildred (Splitgerber) Zeman. On February 28, 1960, Betty was united in marriage to James Rouse at St. John Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. Jim preceded her in death in March of 2026. Betty served as the office manager for Shawano Title for over 40 years. She had a great sense of humor and was spunky and witty right up until her last day. The most important thing to Betty was always her family, she loved attending her grandkids sports and other activities. The annual family trips were something she always treasured. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, sheephead, poker, and going to the casino. She also loved snowmobiling, bowling, and going out to eat. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Betty is survived by: her children, Wendy (James) Vanderlinden and Lori (Keith) Schoenick; grandchildren, Kyle (Jessica) Vanderlinden, Jenna (Andrew) Ponshock, Nathan Schoenick, and Brittany (William) Schlosser; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Bella, Brody, Braylin, Valen, Emryn, and one on the way; and sisters, Marilyn McBride and Vicky (Jeff) Jones. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jim and her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 13, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church-Belle Plaine with Pastor Todd Jerabek officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shawano Place and Moments Hospice for the wonderful care.
