Betty Valier Seider Spielvogel, age 86, formerly of Shawano, died Wednesday evening on October 7, 2020 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN.  She was born on October 22, 1933 in Sheboygan Falls, WI, the third of five children of Arno and Leona (Buckhouse) Seider.  She graduated from Adell High School in 1951.  She then attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI, receiving her bachelor's degree in teaching in 1955.

It was at Lakeland that she met Myron Spielvogel, whom she married on June 21, 1958 in Batavia, WI.  Betty was a real estate agent and an English teacher at Shawano (WI) High School.  Her interests included quilting, refurbishing furniture, playing Bridge, and reading.

Betty was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano, and a member of its LWML and Stephen Ministry.

Due to declining health, in 2008 she moved to Northfield, MN to be near two of her daughters.  During those last years she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield and was a member of its quilting group.

Betty's survivors include three daughters and one son: Amy (Brent) Klein of Northfield, MN; Sara (Jon) Fishwild of Oregon, WI; Jeff (Jayne) Spielvogel of Appleton, WI; and Beth (Ron) Revels of Lolo, MT; eleven grandchildren: Joel, Libby, Noah, Jaison, Arathi, Michael, Andrew, Katie, Megan, Ben, and Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Clara and Charlotte; and brothers Lyle and Kenny.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, her parents, her sister, Vivian, and her brother, Virgil.

The funeral service will be at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on October 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dr. Brent A. Klein, officiating.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13 and again on Wednesday, October 14 at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Betty's family requests that all who attend the visitation and service wear masks.  Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic masks will be required at both the visitation and services.

Memorials are preferred to St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano.
