Beverly Lou Aschenbrener, age 78, of Shawano passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 surrounded by her family. Beverly was born on July 1, 1939 in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Lucille (Stockemer) Ford.  She graduated from The Academy in Green Bay and then received her degree from St. Norbert College in DePere.  On June 22, 1963, Bev was united in marriage to Daniel Frank Aschenbrener at St. Joseph's Church in Green Bay.  Two years after being married, Dan and Bev moved to Sheboygan.  In 1966, they moved to Shawano where they raised their four children.  Teaching young children was one of her greatest joys in life next to her family.  She taught elementary school in Appleton and later in Sun Prairie while Dan finished law school.  For many years, she was a full time mother and homemaker until going back to work as a substitute teacher in Shawano for 15 years.  Sharing the simple things in life with her family brought her much happiness ~ fishing, cooking, gardening, decorating and doing crafts were among the things she loved.  She enjoyed making memories with good friends, including her Four Seasons couples' group as well as many of her other friends in Shawano.

Above all, Bev had a strong faith in God. In 2000, she and Dan traveled to Medjugoreje, Bosnia for a couple's spiritual retreat.  It was there that her devotion to the Blessed Mother and Christ strengthened even more.  She carried her faith to the very end.

She and Dan were married for 54 years and she deeply loved him, their children and grandchildren. Just before Bev passed, she opened her beautiful blue eyes for the first time in several days, looked at her husband, each of her children and her grandson, Alex.  What a gift from God!

Bev is survived by her husband, Dan; their four children, Dave Aschenbrener of Gresham, Lisa (Craig) Crawford of Dubuque, Iowa, Lori Aschenbrener of Westby and Beth (Dan) Burke of Plainfield, Illinois; four grandchildren, Alex Aschenbrener, Cole Crawford, Brandon Crawford and Julia Crawford.

Funeral services for Bev will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Rev. Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.  Memorial fund has been established for St. Vincent De Paul or SAM25 in Bev's name.  Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
