It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Bonnie Rose (Hesse) Brunner, who departed this world on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 75. Bonnie took her final breaths at the Appleton Regional Medical Center, enveloped by the love and presence of her cherished family. She was born on July 28, 1950, in the City of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, Bonnie was the beloved daughter of Fredrich and Beverly (Eddy) Hesse.
Bonnie was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Brunner, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage, raising four extraordinary children together. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Duane Hesse; nephew, Lee Hesse; and niece, Kristine Hesse.
Bonnie’s legacy lived on through her surviving family, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. She leaves behind her children, Lori (Andy) Schmidt of Gresham, Wisconsin; Matthew (Crystal) Brunner of Bowler, Wisconsin; Sarah (Mark) Sippl of Birnamwood, Wisconsin; and Emily (Jason) Hintt of Antigo, Wisconsin. Her siblings, Brian (Brenda) Hesse and Debra (Kevin) Gilbertson; and sister-in-law, Connie Hesse, will cherish her memory. Bonnie was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Ethan (Anna) Schmidt, Liz (Daniel) Buettner, Eric Schmidt, Eben (Aeriell) Schmidt, Madisyn Sippl, Beau Brunner, Christopher Sippl and Blake Brunner; and great-grandmother, to Eli, Easton, Huntleigh, Brantley and Finley.
A proud graduate of Shawano High School class of 1968, Bonnie pursued her passion for helping others by attending Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where she earned her Medical Assistant Certificate. Her dedication to the care and well-being of others led her to a rewarding 42-year career as a Medical Assistant and Patient Service Representative at ThedaCare Physicians of Shawano and Tigerton, from which she retired in 2012.
Bonnie’s faith was an integral part of her life. Her love for nature was evident in her passion for gardening and feeding the birds, creating a haven of peace and beauty in her own backyard. She took great pride in attending and watching her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Those who knew Bonnie were touched by her kindness and generosity. She possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, and her warmth and grace left a mark on many lives.
Bonnie was blessed with countless friends including special friends, Pat, Mary and Sharon. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Bonnie’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her life was a testament to love, compassion and unwavering faith. As we bid farewell to a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, we celebrate the profound impact she had on the lives she touched.
