Barnes
August 27, 1974 – August 15, 2025
Cara J. Barnes, "Auntie Bunny", "Buttercup" age 50, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 15, 2025, in Shawano. Born on August 27, 1974, to Calvin Barnes and the late Florence Skenandore in Milwaukee. She graduated from Green Bay Southwest High School and went on to raise three wonderful girls. Everyone who knew Cara knew her to be an energetic, bubbly and an outgoing woman. One of her favorite pastimes was singing karaoke and she always favored songs by Janis Joplin. Cara had an adventurous side and spent her free time camping, traveling, and going on memorable road trips. She even liked riding motorcycles and did so with her DC Eagle Friends. Cara loved her family dearly and always made time for them. She was a caretaker to all and dedicated her time to being an amazing mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Cara is survived by: her three daughters, Sapphire Otradovec, Kaylee Otradovec and Priscilla Otradovec; her father, Calvin Barnes; her siblings, Carl (Barb) Barnes, Jessica (Rafael) Colon and Jesse Barnes. She is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including her special aunts Marcene "Maxx" Barnes and Joanne Thundercloud. Cara is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, including Carl Jr. (Megan), Shaleen and Christopher "Mookie".
She is preceded in death by, her mother Florence Skenandore; special brothers, Joe Thundercloud and Maverick; and special sister, Denise Dodge.
A funeral mass will be held for Cara at 11:00 am on Saturday August 23, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr Hanz Christian officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday at 2:00 pm at the Neopit Community Center and will continue until the time of the service on Saturday.
Cara's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Birch Hill nursing home staff as well as to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
