Carl Julius Berndt, age 89, formerly of Bonduel, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 in Seymour. Born on June 13, 1923 in the Town of Angelica, he was the son of the late Emil A. and Matie (Marten) Berndt. Carl lived most of his life in rural Bonduel. On August 30, 1952 he was united in marriage to LaVern Timm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Cicero. After marriage the couple continued to farm in rural Bonduel. After retiring from farming, the couple moved into Bonduel where they resided until moving to Seymour in 2007. Carl was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran church in the Town of Lessor where he was a council member and former president. He was also a former member of the Town of Hartland Fire Department. Carl was and avid Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, playing cribbage, fishing, playing bingo, doing word searches and spending time with his grandsons. Carl is survived by: his son, Ronald (Shelly) Berndt of Ashwaubenon; 3 grandsons, Robert Berndt currently stationed in Japan, Rodney Berndt, Ryan Berndt of Oshkosh; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Timm. Carl was preceded in death by: his wife, LaVern on February 14, 2008; his parents; a sister, Marie Bergsbaken; and 2 brothers-in-law, Lester Timm and Daryl Bergsbaken. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in the Town of Lessor with the Rev. Mike Dismer officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Thursday from 4-8pm and at the church on Friday from 10am until the time of the service.
