Carl Johnson Maskewit, Jr., age 47 of Keshena, died unexpectedly on April 13, 2014 in Appleton with his family by his side. Born on October 18, 1966 in Sturgeon Bay, he is the son of Carl J. Maskewit, Sr. and the late Sharon (Winneshiek) Maskewit. Known as an avid outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially cutting wood with his father. He had a great sense of humor, always laughing and joking around and those that knew him referred to him as a "good drinker". Carl will be sadly missed by his family and friends, including: his father Carl, Sr. of Keshena; his sisters, Linda (Raphael) Boivin of Keshena, Mary (Daniel) Tomow of Legend Lake, Sharon Maskewit of South Dakota; brothers, Jacob Maskewit Sr. of Keshena, John Maskewit of Keshena, Mitchell (Elizabeth) Maskewit III of Keshena; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including his special great niece Leila Sky Peters whom he adored, and his favorite cousins, Candy Boyd and John Boyd III. Carl is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Winneshiek) Maskewit, and his sister-in-law, Debra Maskewit. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Visitation will be at the Carl Maskewit Sr. residence, N276 Max Martin Rd in Keshena from 12:00 noon on Wednesday until the procession leaves for the funeral home on Friday.
