Carlos "Charlie" Anthony Pinero, age 61 of Shawano, WI, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. Carlos was born on December 20, 1958 to the late Charles and Gloria (Rivera) Pinero at Sloane Hospital in the Manhattan Borough of New York City. After graduating High School, Carlos went on to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served on active duty for 2 years. He got out of the Army and joined the United States Navy where he served 16.5 years enlisted as a Master-At-Arms. After reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer, he went into the officer program and went on to successfully serve another 14 years as a United States Naval Officer. He retired in 2007 as a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Security Officer. After retirement, Carlos worked for the Department of the Navy as the Naval Station Great Lakes Chief of Police, and then as the Navy Security Force Naval Station Great Lakes Physical Security/Antiterrorism Officer. During his career in the Navy, he received the many personal achievement Medals among the highest ranking in the Navy. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, United Nations Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
On November 15, 2003 Carlos was united in marriage to Valerie Brandt in Virginia Beach, VA. He was a member of the American Legion, various Law Enforcement Organizations, and was very active as a coach and staff for his sons' various sports and athletic organizations over the years. He was passionate about various charities and generous with donating both his time and financial support. Carlos was passionate about his career and the work he did for the Navy. He enjoyed watching various sports but was an extremely loyal New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed playing PlayStation, Xbox, and PS4, both on his own and with his sons. Other things Carlos enjoyed in life was being on the water with various water-crafts, listening to a variety of genres of music, deer hunting, and since he was a little boy a continuous passion for muscle and luxury cars. He enjoyed talking to people, listening to their life stories, and meeting new people. He made friends wherever he went. In the last few years of his life, after settling into Wisconsin, he found himself enamored with the beauty of the outdoors and the peace and tranquility that came with it. Most of all, Carlos cherished Family and enjoyed all time spent with them.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 17 years, Valerie; his children Charlie Pinero, Chris (Jazzy) Pinero, Nick (Michelle) Pinero, Anthony Pinero, and Jayden Pinero; his grandchildren, Carlos, Lucas, and Sebastian; his siblings, Lori (Mike) Snowdon, Karen (Zach) Doncovio, and Peter (Chrissy) Pinero. Carlos is further survived by loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear and loyal friends across the continent.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Gloria and his Uncle James "Jimmy" Robles.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
