August 23, 1938 – January 2, 2026
Carol Elaine Brede entered her heavenly home on Friday January 2, 2026, having reached the age of 87 years. Carol was born on August 23, 1938, in the Township of Bear Creek, Clintonville to Carl and Rosetta (Winter) Witzke the youngest of seven children. She was baptized into the Christian faith on September 4, 1938, by Rev. Walter O. Speckhard. She renewed her baptismal vows through the rite of confirmation in St. Martin Lutheran Church Clintonville on April 6, 1952, by Rev. Walter O. Speckhard. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 46,1, "God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble." Carol married Ervin Brede on June 2, 1962, at St. Martin Lutheran Church by Rev. Donald Biester. The marriage was blessed with three children. She helped her husband Ervin on their dairy farm for many years. Together the couple spent a wonderful and loving 60 years together before Ervin's passing in 2023. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and L.W.M.L. She loved working in her garden and her flowers.
Carol is survived by her children, Wanda (Steven) Daskam of Cecil, Carla (Scott) Blood, of Birnamwood and Brian (Catherine) Brede, of Cecil; grandchildren, Melissa Daskam, Caleb Brede, Logan Brede, Merrik Brede and Christopher Brede; and sister, Renata Buchholz, of Clintonville.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Rosetta Witzke; husband, Ervin Brede; and sisters, Arlene Witzke, Cora Anderson, Charlotte Haas, Evelyn Bodoh, Jeanette Haven; brother-in-law, Howard Buchholz.
A funeral service for Carol will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 6, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran White Clay Lake Church in Cecil with Pastor Craig Nehring officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to ThedaCare Hospice for the wonderful care given to Carol.
