Obituary

Carol Ann Davids, age 66, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at home. Carol was born on July 7, 1959, in San Francisco, California, to the late Roland “Buddy” Davids and Joanne Meier. She graduated from Bowler High School and continued her education at UW Milwaukee. Carol waitressed at many places most notably George Webb and then worked at the Milwaukee Journal for many years where she met her husband, Richard “Rick” Rottinghaus. On August 30, 2002, she was united in marriage to Rick in Shawano. In Carol’s free time, she enjoyed gambling, playing slots, going on mini vacations, traveling, being a prankster and trying out new restaurants. She was a strong levelheaded mom who was able to mother everyone in some sort of way and many considered her as mom regardless of relation. Carol’s children and granddaughter were her world, and her biggest accomplishment was raising her granddaughter.

Carol is survived by her husband, Rick Rottinghaus; granddaughter, Skye “Virgil” Davids; siblings, Jodie Davids, Susan Davids, Jeffrey (Amy) Machgan, Julie Bricco, Jacqueline (Mike) Machgan, Sohappy (Todd) Davids, Misty (Chris) Cook and Samuel Dommer; and former husband, Henry Neale. She is survived further by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her children, Erica Davids and Scott Davids; stepfather, Robert Machgan; siblings, Kathleen “Knucky” Lehouillier and Sheri Davids; and parents, Buddy Davids and Joanne Meier.

A family run gathering and meal will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Stockbridge Elderly Center starting at 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Inurnment will be held at Red Springs Cemetery.
