Carol M. Soufal, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Carol was born in Shiocton on September 28, 1932, to the late Harold and Thelma (Bessett) Steward. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1950 and then went on to Theda Clark Nursing School where she became an LPN. On September 9, 1953, Carol was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Soufal at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville. Carol and Jerry worked on their farm for the next 10 years. Carol also worked as a nurse at several local nursing homes and as a secretary for some local businesses. Carol was an avid reader and would make weekly trips to library. She was also involved in many organizations including the Red Hat Society and the Shawano Women's Club. She was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano where she was a Eucharistic Minister, lector and a member of Christian Mothers and always loved to help with the annual church rummage sale. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Carol is survived by her daughter Mary (Steve) Johnson of Eden Prairie, MN, Daughter-in-law Jean Soufal of Green Bay; five grandchildren Andrea (Phillip III) Verville, Gregory (Cathie) Soufal, Stephanie (Anthony Gladych) Soufal, Garrett (Bridget) Johnson and Casey (Mitchell) Koebnick; as well as seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Valerie Kuntsman and brother Robert Steward, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Carol in death are her husband, Jerry Soufal, her son Kevin Soufal, her parents Harold and Thelma Steward and siblings Linda Steward, William Steward and James Steward.

A funeral service for Carol will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Father Scott Valentyn and Deacon Jim Lonick officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 until time of services at the church.
