Caroline "Carol" Vele, age 79, of Bowler, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018 in Madison surrounded by her family. Carol was born on October 26, 1938 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Kvasnica) Ludin. On August 19, 1956, Carol was united in marriage to Merton Merle "Sugar Boy" Vele in Milwaukee. The couple moved to the Chicago area in 1959 before returning to Milwaukee and eventually moving to Bowler. In 1998, Carol along with her husband and family founded the Konkapot Lodge. Carol enjoyed traveling, rummaging, playing bingo, cards, and board games. Carol loved her faithful companion, Punkin, her dog. More than anything, she was very proud of her family and loved being with them. Carol was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Carol is survived by: her children, Kimberly (Steve Parks) Vele of Bowler, Antoinette (Bruce "Sully" Silas) Tourtillott of Bowler, Patricia (Claude) Merckes of Bowler, Pamela Vele of Bowler and Robert (Clorissa) Vele of Bowler; her sister, Annette (Tod) Lex of West Bend; her 12 grandchildren, Shane (Teresa) Albrecht, Brett Miller, Robert (Tonya Rosenow) Miller, Starlyn (Beau) Miller, Todd Miller, Crystal (Justin) Lepscier, Tracy (Weston Miller) Lobermier, Brandon (Rebecca) Merckes, Charles (Jaimie) Piotrowski, Teena (Al Malone) Piotrowski, Michael Parks, and Andy Piotrowski Jr.; 27 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Merton Vele; her parents; two brothers, William Ludin and Richard Ludin; a sister, Linda Gumb; and a granddaughter, Nichole Merckes.
Funeral services for Carol will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness in Bowler with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Red Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the services.
