"Cathy" Rhode
October 27, 1953 – August 13, 2025
Catharine E. "Cathy" Rhode, 71, has died after a short illness. Cathy was the daughter of Virgene (nee Siebert) Delzer and PFC Roland Rhode, and the stepdaughter of Robert (Bob) Delzer. Cathy grew up on a dairy farm north of Seymour and graduated in 1972 from Seymour High School. She found work at the Pulaski Pickle Factory and Pulaski Shoe Factory before obtaining a job at Fort Howard Paper Company and moving to Green Bay. She was a faithful follower of the band, ROCKER, where she became close friends of the band members and their numerous 'Rocker Groupies" where she ultimately met Dale Eberlein, the love of her life. Dale and Cathy married in 2010 and moved to Shawano, where she was active in the We Are People group and volunteered at the Sam25 Homeless Shelter. Cathy was a caring and generous friend. She was ever present in the lives of her family and was especially loved by her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed!
She is survived by her brother, Mike Rhode (Sue) of Waupaca, her sister, Laurie Mesenbring (Steve) of Fort Atkinson and her half-brother, Greg Delzer (Alice) of Madison; niece, Jessica Jewell (Jeremy Snook) of Salt Lake City, UT and their daughter, Beatrix; niece, Jackie Ellis (Joe) of Toano, VA and their children, Logan & Olivia; nephew, Luke Mesenbring (Andrea Pellegrini) of Champaign, IL; nephew, Josh Mesenbring (Ashley) of Quincy, IL and their son, Jackson; nephew, Mike Mesenbring (Amber ) of Turkey and their children, Asher, Judah, Junia, Jonathan, Adeline, & Caleb; and niece, Elena Delzer of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Eberlein; mother, Virgene Delzer; father, PFC Roland Rhode; stepfather, Robert Delzer and half-brother, Robert Delzer, Jr.
Visitation is 3-5 PM on Thursday, August 21st at Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano. Private interment at Woodlawn Shawano City Cemetery. Monetary donations can be made in Cathy's honor to Sam 25 homeless shelter in Shawano, WI.
