Obituary

Charles A. Burlo, Jr., age 73 of the Town of Wescott, died at the Aurora Medical Center in Green Bay on Thursday, August 11, 2011 following a three and half year battle with cancer. Chuck was born on April 14, 1938 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Charles J. and Grace (Richards) Burlo, Sr. He attended Sevastapol and Sturgeon Bay schools. On February 10, 1962 he married his lovely bride, Marilyn Gigstead at St. Peter's Church in Sturgeon Bay. The couple resided in Sturgeon Bay along with their four girls until 1968 when they moved to Sheboygan Falls. Following Chuck's retirement in 1999, the couple moved north to the Shawano Lake area. There Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, ATVing, gardening, playing pool, and meeting up with good friends. Chuck is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Marilyn; 4 daughters, Kristine (Brian) James, Sherrie (Peter) Brookes, Kay (Tom) Hoffman, Fay (Ken Berth) Winter; 8 grandchildren, Amber (David) Golle, Danae James, Cody Hoffman, Joshua James, Kevin Brookes, Ryan Hoffman, Jeremy Winter, Bradley Brookes; a sister, Margaret (Pat) Lake of Sturgeon Bay; and a brother, Thomas (Gloria) Burlo of Iron Mountain. Chuck was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, Louis and Wallace (Evelyn) Burlo. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, W8089 Cty Road A, Shawano with the Rev. Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Please join the family in celebrating Chuck's life at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Tuesday evening from 4-7pm and at the church on Wednesday after 9am until the time of the service.
