Chester W. "Chet" Gooding Jr., age 79, passed away Friday June 2, 2023, in Shawano. Chet was born on July 21, 1943, to the late Elaine (Kottke) and Chester W. Gooding Sr., in Fort Riley, Kansas. On December 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to Johnnie Milsap in Shawano. Johnnie preceded him in death on July 4, 2011. Chet worked as a research scientist at Georgia Pacific until retirement. He enjoyed woodcarving and being outdoors. Chet was a member of the Shawano American Legion Post #117. He loved spending time with his family and his dog Parker.

Chet is survived by his daughters, Ann (Jim) Kestell of Freedom and Connie (Joe) Keberlein of Shawano; grandchildren, Meghan (Dave) Schwartz, Damon (Ashley) Salm and Kelsi (Ethan) Salm; great-grandson, David Schwartz; and siblings John (Trisha) Gooding of Shawano, Bill (Vicki) Gooding of Appleton; and sister-in-law, Laura (Darryl) Prodell of Shawano.

Chet is preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl, brother, Richard and brother-in-law Mark.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 9, 2023, at Lake Drive Cemetery in Town of Wescott, with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117.
