Chester Edward Luszczek, of Shawano, formerly of Berwyn, IL, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 in Green Bay. Born on October 12, 1927 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Matthew and Veronica (Babiarz) Luszczek. On October 15, 1955 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Stevens. The couple made their home in the Chicago area where Chester worked as a shoe salesman at the Sears on State Street. Also during that time, Chester played saxophone and clarinet for 37 years in the Billy Reich Orchestra under the name "Chet Edwards". In 1982 the couple moved to Krakow where Chester owned and operated Chet's Krakow Inn until retiring in 1995. After retirement, the couple lived in the Pulaski area and later in Shawano where they have resided since 1997. Chester was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of the Musicians Union in Chicago. In his free time he enjoyed volunteering at the Evergreen Health Care Center in Shawano. Chester is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Bernadine; 2 daughters, Joan Luszczek of Krakow, Susan (Michael) Dina of Hickory Hills, IL; a son, Mark (Elizabeth) Luszczek of Clarendon Hills, IL; 3 grandchildren, Amy and Eric Dina, Stacy Luszczek; a sister, Josephine Gajda of Lisle, IL; and a special friend of the family, Roger Karcz of Krakow. Chester was also the loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Chester was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Mary Moskalski. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating.
