Christine D. "Chris" Welch, age 83, of Oconto Falls, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1938 to the late Irving and Margaret (Spencer) Surprise in New London. She worked for North Star Casino in the housekeeping department. Chris loved to fish, hunt and spend time with her family. She was well known for her delicious egg rolls and mandarin orange cake.

She is survived by her children, Wanda (Smitty) Schmitt, Jeff (Julie) Dey, Wesley (Lydia) Welch and Steve (fiancé Kim) Welch; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Irving "Butch" (Margaret) Surprise; and lifelong friend, Betty Collar.  She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Chris is preceded in death by her sons, Randy Dey and Larry Welch; her parents; and sisters, Florence Clemons, Margaret Vandenbloomer and Alice Hasley.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 am at Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano with a Time of Sharing at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
