Clarence Manthei, age 83 of Shawano, died on Saturday, April 13, 2019, while under hospice care at ThedaCare in Appleton. Born in Oshkosh on December 3, 1935, he is the son of the late Henry and Luella (Pietz) Manthei. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and received his Bachelors Degree from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Clarence was united in marriage to Marilyn Vaessen on August 24, 1963 in West De Pere. Clarence worked as the chief accountant at Appleton Memorial, Shawano Medical Center, and Maple Lane. He was an active member of the Wisconsin Deer Hunters Shawano Chapter, Wolf River Carving Club, and an avid wood carver, hunter, fisherman, camper, as well as a Brewer and Packer fan.
He is survived by: his wife, Marilyn; their children, Lorrie (Nick) Rogge and Robert (Kaye) Manthei; grandchildren, Mitchel (Megan) Rogge, Jessica Rogge, Naomi Rogge; step-grandchildren, Zach (Alyssa) and Cody Gholston; a great-grandson, Oliver Gholston; along with two sisters, Louanne Polishinski and Marian Rasmussen.
Clarence is preceded in death by: his parents, Henry and Luella; his brothers and sisters, Henry, Julia, Vern and Betty.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
