Clarence Joseph "Son" Pevonka, age 93 of Shawano, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at a local nursing home. Born on June 27, 1919 in Leopolis, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Paiser) Pevonka. After graduating from high school, Clarence worked for Consolidated Badger. He worked there for 40 years, retiring in 1982. On October 30, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mildred "Jean" Grueb in Gresham. Jean preceded him in death in 1984. Clarence was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano where he was a trustee and a past usher. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local 75. In his free time, Clarence loved riding the back roads of the county. Clarence is survived by: 2 brothers, Dennis (Lucille) Pevonka of Shawano, Orville (Irene) Pevonka of Shawano; and several nieces and nephews including Karla (Steve) Duchac of Shawano. Clarence was preceded in death by: his wife, Jean; his parents; a brother, Milton "Bud"; a sister, Mildred Ashenbrenner; and special friend, Betty Jensen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano with the Rev. Marty Black officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday after 9:00am until the time of the service.
