Clarence Bernard Swiecichowski, age 79 of Shawano, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at a local nursing home. Born on September 3, 1932 in the Town of Lessor, he was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Humecke) Swiecichowski. After graduating from high school, Clarence enlisted with the United States Army and served his country for nearly two years during the Korean War. On April 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Faye Boerst in Shawano. After marriage the couple owned and operated their own farm. Clarence also worked as a cheese maker, a longshoreman with Leicht's Transfer and Storage in Green Bay and at Torberg's in Shawano . He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano where he was an usher. Clarence was also active with the Knights of Columbus and the Shawano V.F.W. Clarence is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Faye; a daughter, Amy (Ron) Schmidt of Bonduel; 4 sons, Daniel (special friend, Diane) of Shawano, Thomas (Donna) of Pulaski, Carl (Cindy) of Shawano, Steve (Meg) of Pulaski; and 14 grandchildren, Samantha, Savanah (Matthew) Ovans, T.J. (special friend, Kelli), Oakley, Morgan, Holly (fiancé, Charlie), Jesse, Eric, Jacob, Abby, Benjamin, Daniel, Hannah and Leah. He is further survived by: a brother, Donald (Shirley) of Green Bay; 2 sisters, Grace (Arlyn) Helms of Seymour, Ceil (Mike) Murphy of Appleton; and a sister-in-law, Grace Rozmiarek. Clarence was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Raymond; 2 sisters, Rita, Phyllis; and 2 brothers-in-law, John Weier and Ray Rozmiarek. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano V.F.W. Post #2723. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Tuesday from 4-8pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10am until the time of the service. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 8pm on Tuesday. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano for the care, kindness and thoughtfulness given to Clarence during his stay.
