Colin G. Lawe, Sr., age 73, passed away on March 2, 2016. Colin was born on September 22, 1942, to the late John D. and Julia (Aaron) Lawe, in Neopit. Colin was employed as a Menominee County Sherriff for 22 years, retiring as a Sergeant. During his time with the Sherriff's Department he was also cross-deputized by Shawano, Langlade, and Oconto counties. Colin also owned and operated landscaping, logging, and trucking businesses, he drove truck for many years, becoming a member of the Million Mile Mack Club. The miles he was able to drive and ride with his son, Colin, Jr. were very special to him. In his younger years he was a golden gloves boxer and was proud to have been able to pass on his passion for boxing to his grandson, Michael. In his free time, Colin loved riding motorcyles, visiting with family and tribal elders, and being outdoors, especially while hunting.
Colin is survived by: his children, Colleen (Bobby) Chapman of Kentucky, Colin (fiancé Pauline Centers) Lawe, Jr. of Seymour, and Cameo Lawe, of Arizona; grandchildren, Carrie (Todd) Kitts of West Virginia, Lance Hayes of Kentucky, Shay (fiancé Lacey) Sanapaw of Shawano, Colin (fiancé Rose) Lawe III of Seymour, Michael (Alaina Wilson) Sanapaw of Keshena, Claude (fiancé Angelica) Lawe, and Cody Lawe of Keshena; great-grandchildren, Kamio, Mickayla, Taylor, J.R., and Dominic; a sister, Colette "Sugar" Anderson; and a brother, Richard (Patricia) Lawe. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Carol "Stell" Boivin, Colleen Warrington, and Claudette Dodge, as well as a brother, Claude Lawe.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with Deacon Jim Lonick, on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano.
