Obituary

Curtis James Crowe, Sr., age 89 of Neopit, began his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Curtis was born on June 26, 1931 to the late David and Alice (Mahkimetas) Crowe in Keshena. On April 4, 1961, Curtis was united in marriage to Mary Jane Wayka.  Mary Jane preceded him in death on January 16, 2014. Curtis was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit. Curtis owned and operated a lawn service, worked at the Menominee Casino, and worked at the Menominee Mill for many years until retiring. He was a jack of all trades and always provided for his family. Curtis enjoyed trips to the casino to play the slots and bingo. He loved traveling and music and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. Curtis was very proud and honored to be the eldest of six generations, he treasured spending time with his family, especially hunting and fishing with his sons. Curtis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Curtis is survived by: his children, Curtis (Virginia) Crowe, Jr. of Middle Village, Eugene "Chester" Wayka of Neopit, Carmen Crowe of Neopit, Wendell Crowe of Neopit, Carol Red Kettle of Neopit, and Brianna Crow of Neopit; grandchildren, Dyan, Darrell, Roselee, Curt, Crystal, Stephen, Megan, Rito, Delaina, Daoma, Tracy, Steve, John, Tara, Joey, Randi, Reannon, Sonny, Jwin, Joseph Jr., Jodi, John, Amber, Jim Boy, Crystal, Sonny, Vince, James, Richard, Bri, Mary Lu, and Katelyn; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Teller; and special godson, Stephen Crow. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Crowe; children, Stephen A. Crowe, Sr., and Mary Lu Crowe; special son-in-law, Joseph Red Kettle, Sr.; grandson, Shane; granddaughter, Shiann; great granddaughters, Aurora, and Danica; parents, David and Alice Crowe; and siblings, Everett, Thomas, Opal, Osborne, Connie, and Carol.

A funeral service for Curtis will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Red Kettle Residence, N3414 State Highway 47, Neopit from 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 until the time of procession to the church on Friday.
