Curtis A. Gast, age 73, of Belle Plaine, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Curtis was born on March 18, 1953, in Shawano to the late Edmund and Sylvia (Butt) Gast. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Stony Hill and was baptized on May 3, 1953, by Pastor Stoehr and confirmed on May 28, 1967, by Pastor Clausen. On November 12, 1983, Curt was united in marriage to Betty Shulze in Navarino, Wisconsin. Curt farmed his whole life on the family farm with his brother John. He loved animals and enjoyed cheering on the Brewers, the Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. He was extremely proud of his family and cherished the many memories. Curt was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he will be deeply missed.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty; son, Kevin (Nicole) Gast; grandchildren, Irene and Jack; pets, Penny and Kitty; siblings, Vanice (Craig) Oberst, Sharon Bannow, James (Sandra) Gast, John (Lisa) Gast, Kenny (Elaine) Gast and Suzanne (Scott) Rudesill; mother-in-law, Alice Shulze; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Jane, Jeanne and Don, Patrick and Terez, Carol and Randy, James, and Kay. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Curtis is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Gast, his parents, father-in-law, Gordon Shulze, and brothers-in-law, Tim and Dennis.

A funeral service for Curtis will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Paul Stony Hill in Shawano with Rev. Colin Moon officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to HSHS St. Mary and St. Vincent Hospitals, Prevea Clinic, Shawano Health Services, and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care. Additional special thank you to Caroline and Olivia for coming every day and taking care of Curt.
