Obituary

Curtis E. Kallies, age 78 of Keshena, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 in Keshena. Born on December 12, 1940 in Leopolis, he is the son of the late Elmer A. and Edna M. (Vorpahl) Kallies.  Curtis graduated from Gillett High School in 1958.  He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for two years.  After his discharge he lived in Chicago and worked for GP Manufacturing.  In June of 1972 he was married to Ellen J. Schanandore in Chicago.  In 1990, the couple returned to the area where they lived on LaMotte Lake.  In 1996, Ellen passed away.  Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing board games.  He was a generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand.  He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Curtis is survived by: five children, Wydell Kallies of Keshena, Carla Martin of Keshena, Alfred Kallies of Keshena, Joanie Kallies of Milwaukee and Anna (Myron) Boivin of Keshena; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marilyn (Neil) Keopek of Tigerton, Patricia (Ken) Updegraff of Neveda, Clarice (Ron) White of Pulaski and Elmer (Linda) Kallies, Jr. of Shawano; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Ellen in 1996; his significant other, Nancy Erdman in 2018; his granddaughter, Savanna Mae Christenson-Wilber; his grandson, Aaron Kallies; his parents; one sister, Carol; and two brothers, Kenneth and Dale.

Funeral services for Curtis will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Michael Paholke officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117.  Inurnment will be in Our Lady of the Woods Cemetery in West Branch.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
