Curtis Anthony Wayka, Sr., age 66, of Keshena, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 in Appleton. Curtis was born in Keshena on July 5, 1950, the son of the late Ernest and Marie (Waupoose) Wayka, Sr. He served our country as a Marine in Vietnam. Curtis is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Menominee Indian Veterans Association. He was a truck driver at Menominee Tribal Enterprises, was a Packer fan and enjoyed riding in the woods, playing softball and gambling.
Curtis is survived by: two children, Curtis (Colleen) Wayka, Jr. and Jean (Jerry) Grignon; grandchildren, Domonic Caldwell, Savanna Nowell, Khyla Grignon, Kai Wayka, Jocquin Boyd, Manihsaeh Boyd, Le Shon Grignon, Yolanda Webster, Aniya Peters and Anisa Peters. He is further survived by his siblings, Dorla Boivin, Caroline Caldwell, Deneane (Miles) Tourtillott, Myron (Barb) Wayka, Sr., Daniel Wayka, Sr., Richard Wayka, Sr., and Janell Wayka; and one brother-in-law, Joe Sackatook.
He was preceded in death by one son, Craig "OT" Wayka; his parents; siblings, Ernest Wayka, Jr., Daryl James, Marvin Wayka, Sr., John Wayka, Karen Sackatook, Deborah Wayka and Ronald Wayka; as well his special friend, Theona Pyawasit, brothers-in-law, John Boivin, Sr. and Roland Caldwell, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Father Francis Zurbano officiating, with Military Honors being conducted by the Menominee Veterans. Burial will be in church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Neopit Community Center from 1:00 pm, Monday, October 31, 2016 until the time of the services.
